Silence is a virtue..

Over the years i have embraced it more and more .. Some people who do care about me are of the opinion its a fools virtue.. i think otherwise in some cases

This morning as i got into work Aaron from Special AI reached out to me to check if we had made some progress on the unified communications project. i was not paying much attention to his sales pitches cause all those words implied to was a signature and a 65 k check to get the ball rolling..

I could have haggled over the prices but i figured i would let the man have his say

After about 10 mins he stopped talking and asked me “are you there ?” 2 times ..

i just said “Yep all ears”

So he started again .. in the middle of the conversation i asked him “How flexible is the quote ?”

“Not very” he replied

“Ok” i said and paused for about 10 15 seconds

Did not ask him why ? or Tell him Interactive intelligence was giving me a better deal and he was not …

I heard a “hmm.. well maybe we could have a 10 15 % downside on the numbers”

i did’nt say a word ..after a while just said ” Ok sounds good … how about we touch base next friday ?

He said ok and we hung up..

i knew i had my man …  but yet kept mum again …last i heard from him was this evening with a revised number. A  20 % discount was applied

This maybe a professional example .. But in many personal cases too i have often observed you are more likely to get more then the usual out of a person during a conversation if  he or she has something to get out of you

A man need not always talk to get things done … Sometimes an individuals insecurity gives in

I woke of this morning on a 3 feet couch .. It amazed me how i fit 6 feet of me almost in it …At least a week back it was a 5 feet Couch ..Maybe i was just too exhausted to worry about comfort ..

Lost that 2 feet of space along with a good friend to the dogmata of everyday life ..Cynical as it sounds .. Quite a few folks i know seem to apply the “Me” Factor more often then most .. I on the other hand have tried keeping it at bay..

There is nothing wrong in being self centered .. but given a choice i would still choose to grow out of myself rather then grow into myself.. A wise man once told me “Don’t let events or people around you change who you are .. There never was and never will be anything more profound then finding your own truth .. thats what makes you special ..

Everyone can run by choice .. You will too someday .. and when you run.. just reason with yourself .. cause you can’t run for long .. eventually life as you know it will be a drag .. Running from your emotions and your feelings is as good as running away from yourself.. They too are very much a part of you as your own two hands..”

Getting away from the rush of NYC and finding asylum in the silence of jersey has helped me put quite a few things into perspective ..

The Mind is a powerful tool.. It can rationalize your irrational feelings and emotions to show the light of reason..

But its still your choice ..

Well my stop’s here time to hop off the NJ Transit and catch the metro to work

People walk in and out of our lifes all the time … some over it .. some under it

Its definitely not a good habit to keep your expressions and reactions towards them capped … For good or for the worse when words need to flow they need to flow … for you own sanity and honesty to others ..

But then they are times i have learnt some words are best left unsaid … it could be an expression of simple gratitude or dislike.. no matter how simple they sound people have just got into a habit to demand a reason.. don’t blame them for it after all its not a world which will let you hold on to your innocence for long ….

Every word or action expressed doesn’t need a reason .. Accept some of them .. for what they are … and there would be one less facet of complexity to our daily life’s …

No one has all the answers … and never will .. but we all do have our ways … this is mine
